Job Roles
Artist
Representation-
An
artist representation represents the artists (clients) and gets them as much
work as possible. There are a company that hold a large contact base of record
labels, production and venues. They have to pay promoters and have to set up
the staging and advertising, including travel and everything for the artist.
Promoter-
Promoters
publicise upcoming events and concerts, by using media and other possible ways.
They will book the venues, and they are responsible of bringing in as many
people as possible to the event.
Broadcaster-
Broadcasters
are a company that manages TV or radio stations, and Radio and TV stations pay
fees for the rights to broadcast music, they are put on TV for the public to
see.
Royalty
Agency-
You
aren’t allowed to broadcast music without royalties, so they have to allow it.
Artist-
An artist performs
the music and gets a profit.
Cover Songs-
At
the gig if an artist plays a cover song a profit has to go to the original
artist.
Unions:
BECTU-
The Broadcasting, Entertainment,
Cinematograph and Theatre Union (BECTU)
are members that work in broadcasting film, theatre, entertainment,
leisure and interactive media.
Musicians
Union-
The Musician's
Union represents and
protects its members in every field so
if there is an accident the Union cover it. They attempt to protect the rights
of musicians. Somewhere you can go for advice and guidance is available
including approved performance and recording contracts.
Equity-
Equity is known and respected nationally and internationally for the
work they do with, and on behalf of members working
with them as the cover Musicians to.
